The 240sx was sold in America between the years or 1989 through 1998. There were two versions to hit our shores, the S13 and the S14. The S13 was made between 1989 and 1994 while the S14 was made between 1995 and 1998. The S13 is a great chassis to start with for a great handling car. These cars are FR layout meaning they are front engine rear wheel drive which is a big deal in the world of tuners car with most of them being front wheel drive. These cars are almost exact replicas of the 180sx and the Silvia found in Japan during the year that we got the 240sx. The biggest difference was that in Japan they got the coveted SR20DET engine in there cars while we got the KA24E and KA24DE out of the nissan hardbody truck. Now with alot of work the KA motor can put out some serious power and torque numbers but with the swap to a SR20 motor being so easy because the mounts are the same it is almost a no brainer. But there are a few flaws to the S13 chassis. One being it has a problem with understeer in the stock form which is no good for racing let alone drifting. This being said the main point of an S13 that should be modified should be the suspension.

Suspension Techniques Front and Rear Sway Bars




The front bar is 1 1/16 of an inch in diameter while the rear bar is 13/16 of an inch. These sway bars will greatly increase the rigity of your chassis while greatly reducing body roll. They will also make the handling more predictable while drifting.
